These mirrors are designed to replace existing broken glass.
If you are missing the glass, it is more than likely you are missing the black plastic backing plate this mirror attaches to.
Confirm that the pivoting backing bracket is attached to the motor hub.
This piece must be there and working properly for the glass to attach to.
